Event Description:
Newport lies at the heart of Oregon's beautiful central coast. Blue water, crashing surf, and natural wonders abound in seemingly endless variety. Local residents love to share their special place with visitors giving Newport its motto "The Friendliest".

From quiet walks on the beach to deep sea fishing to visiting the numerous local attractions, there are a wide range of opportunities for recreation and inner reflection. It's the perfect setting for a marathon.

This year's Marathon is limited to 1200 entrants. in order to provide a quality marathon experience to all our participants. So please register early!

Athletes must pick up their race packets between 3:00 pm and 9:30 pm on Friday May 31st, 2013 at Race Headquarters located at the Embarcadero Resort Hotel.

There will be no packet or number pick-up on race day.

Event Description: This annual fundraiser for the Samaritan House Homeless Family Shelter is a tour of seven beautiful gardens along the Yaquina Bay Road and in the Toledo area.

The tour features a variety of gardens, from a vegetable garden to a garden with lovely water features.
A shuttle is provided for part of the tour, with parking easily accessible.
Each garden will have music and a raffle, and two of the gardens will have food.
One will feature cheese/crackers and wine, and another will feature desserts.
It is always a fun day, and a great way to enjoy some of the natural beauty of our area.

NEW! This year we will have a longer course to go along with our sprint.

The Olalla Lake Off-Road Tri features a course that is hard to beat. This race is characterized by gnarly hill climbs, both the bike and the run course feature some seriously fun and challenging hills, and if we could add one to the swim, we would! The reservoir is a pristine lake surrounded by tree covered hills, and the view from the top of the bike course is nothing short of breathtaking.

The distances are approximately:

Event Description: Watch the sky light up over Yaquina Bay.
Helpful Hint: It's good to show up early to the Bayfront or surrounding areas as over 5,000 people watch the display.

The Aerial display will be launched from a new location on private property just east of the Port of Newport International Terminal on Yaquina Bay Road. With the new location, officials say the best fireworks viewing area will be from the Hatfield Marine Science Center in South Beach. The parking lot will be open to pedestrian traffic only.

This year many of Newport's boat charter services are offering bay trips during the fireworks celebration. Interested citizens are encouraged to contact a local charter service for further information.

Event Description: Sponsored by the Rogue Brewery, Harris Bridge Vineyard and Community Services Consortium, this 69.5 mile running relay starts near Philomath, runs along scenic back roads of Benton and Lincoln County, through Toledo, and finishes in Newport at the Rogue Brewery on the South Bay. In support of CSC and its mission to help people, teams of 2, 4, and 6 members run/walk 12 legs of the relay, finishing with cheers and beers. Watch for runners crossing the Yaquina Bay Bridge between 3:30pm and 7:30pm.

Event Description: This is an adventure where two person teams will solve clues, find locations, complete challenges and race throughout Newport, in order to cross the finish line.

The completion of each challenge will earn you a clue to find the location of the next challenge.

Teams can be made of 2 Women, 2 Men or 2 Coed, must be 18 years or older.

Traveling by foot is the only mode of transportation allowed.

Buccaneer Rampage

Event Description: The first annual Buccaneer Rampage will be Saturday August 24th 2013 in Newport Oregon, and will feature a number of challenging obstacles spread out over a few miles of muddy, steep terrain. Competitors will have to brave everything from flaming hurdles to mud crawls and rope walls. Prizes will be given for the best pirate costumes and top finishers in each age group. The event will also feature an after party, with music, food, and a beer garden.

This event is organized by the City of Newport Parks and Recreation, and all proceeds from the event go to help the youth sports scholarship program.

Event Description:, The 10th Annual Oregon Coast Jazz Party (formerly Jazz at Newport), is slated for Oct. 4th, 5th & 6th, 2013.

Oregon Coast Jazz Party (OCJP) celebrates 10 years of jazz with OCJP favorites Benny Green, Ken Peplowski, and Houston Person! As well as First-Time OCJP Artists: Bill charlap, Kenny Washington and Peter Washington!

Ticket prices are TBD for adults, TBD for students, and are available from the Newport Performing Arts Center box office, at 777 W. Olive Street in Newport. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, Monday through Friday and one hour prior to performance time.





Free Flight Run

Free Flight Run 5K/10K at the Hatfield Science Center

October 13, 2013 Time: 12:00 PM - 12:00 PM
Where: Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC), South Beach Slip Road, Newport Oregon.
Course Description: Scenic, paved course on jetty, along bay and nature trail, flat, fast and fun. No headphones, baby joggers, skates, bicycles, or pets allowed on the course. One Aid Station within 5K, same one out and back for 10K.

Start Times: 9 a.m. start for 5K and 10K followed by Kids-run.
Directions: Race held in South Beach, south of Newport, OR. From Newport, cross Yaquina Bay Bridge, take first right after bridge, and follow signs to HMSC. From south, before crossing Yaquina Bay Bridge into Newport, take right toward Aquarium and HMSC, and follow signs.

     Kids Run (10 and under)	$7.00

     If Postmarked after 10/1/10

PROCEEDS support Lincoln County Youth "250 miles for $50" scholarship program, Elementary track meets and other local running activities.

AWARDS
Awards given for top Overall Male and Female in the 5K and 10K, top Masters Male and Female in the 5K and 10K, and age group awards in 5 year increments. All Kids-run participants receive a finisher ribbon, but there are no overall or age group awards.
