The keynote speaker, Charlotte Coté, is an associate professor in American Indian Studies at the University of Washington. Her 2022 book, "A Drum in one Hand, A Sockeye in the Other: Stories of Indigenous Food Sovereignty from the Northwest Coast," explores how traditional foods play a major role in physical, emotional, spiritual and dietary wellness.

2022 topics include: -- Ocean observing systems -- Infrastructure investments on the coast -- Energy: needs, opportunities, challenges and testing updates -- Yaquina Bay Estuary walk -- Oregon’s marine reserves -- Coastal Oregon’s connectivity after a Cascadia earthquake -- Sitka Center for Art and Ecology workshop -- Fishermen first-aid and safety training workshop -- Aquaculture of red seaweed -- Beavers and their role in climate change, wildfire and drought -- Obstacles and opportunities for local seafood distribution -- Student researchers and artists
