Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area extends out from the Oregon coast, one mile into the Pacific Ocean. Standing 93 feet tall at the westernmost point of the basalt headland, the lighthouse has been a bright beacon of the night, guiding ships and their supplies along the west coast since the light was first lit on August 20, 1873. The Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site Yaquina Bay State Park is located in Newport at the north end of Yaquina Bay near its outlet to the Pacific Ocean. The bluff is forested with spruce and pine, and a large deck provides views of Yaquina Bay and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The west end of the park has parking and trails to the beach along the north Jetty. Visit Website SOUTH BEACH STATE PARK Situated next to the Yaquina Bay Bridge, South Beach State Park begins in south Newport and stretches several miles down the Oregon coast. This historic park offers access to miles of broad, sandy ocean beach and trails for walking and bicycling. Located just south of the South Jetty , this is your gateway to exploring Newport.
