There’s nothing quite like the taste of fresh seafood, and Newport has plenty of ways for you to get it. If you’re a serious do-it-yourselfer, grab your crab pots and test your skills at one of the public piers on the bayfront, or cross the bridge and try fishing off the south jetty. For those who prefer to fish from their own boat, you can launch your vessel at the Newport Marina in South Beach and stay at one of the motels nearby. Or, if you want to catch the fish but let someone else do the navigating, look into reserving a commercial fishing charter for some deep sea adventures. Does this all sound like too much work? That’s okay, we get it. If you’d rather skip the fishing and go straight to the cooking, there are a variety of fish vendors located near the bayfront, or you can buy direct from the fishing boats on the docks.
